EC purchase requisition for army failed, PM, says Zafar Ullah

 


A senior leader of the Awami League claimed on Saturday that the non-deployment of troops in the polls Narayanganj City Corporation from a procedural errors committed by the Electoral Commission, has the letter led the purchase requisition in the armed forces Division and not to the Prime Minister.

The Chief Election Commissioner at a press conference on Friday said that the Commission had on 16 October decided to deploy the troops and sent a letter to the same day to the most important staff officer of the Division's forces to four companies of troops for the city surveys.


He also said that the army in the last election, which was provided by the same procedure.


"To free and fair elections to City Corporation to keep, we had a plan under which troops were army it to deploy on Friday, but none were troops still probably due to the non-cooperation of the Government," said Shamsul.


"It was a constitutional obligation for the Government, which provide troops, as we have asked for," said Shamsul. ' We have no liability in this context.
